Veterinary Surgeon & Practice Principle

The owner and Practice Principal of Rase Small Animal Hospital, Rase Equine Hospital and Aldervale Vets. A Liverpool graduate who has worked at the practice since 2000. Norrie is an equine vet who covers all aspects of equine work but has a special interest in soft tissue surgery including colic surgery. Based at the surgery in Market Rasen, Norrie deals with the more complex equine caseload that Lincolnshire horse owners throw at her. She can be found on most racedays at Market Rasen Racecourse where she has held the position of Senior Veterinary Surgeon since April 2015. Outside of work Norrie is a mother of two girls who likes nothing more than tending to her small holding and menagerie of livestock in her spare time.

Nell joined us at Rase Equine Hospital in 2013 after graduating from veterinary collage in Budapest. Originally from Ireland, horses are in Nell’s blood, her whole family are riders and her father is a well-respected Rasehorse trainer. Nell enjoys all aspects of equine work but is particularly interested in anaesthesia, gastroscopy and reproduction. Outside of work Nell loves travelling, her cat Ralph and her rescue dog Charlie.

Mark graduated from Edinburgh University in 1979. He holds a Certificate in Equine Practice, which underlines his knowledge and experience in the fields of equine diagnosis and treatment. As well as Market Rasen races, Mark also attends Southwell and Doncaster races in a professional role. Mark specialises in equine stud work, equine export, and certification and has a particular interest in acupuncture.

Hannah joined us at Rase Equine Hospital in 2018. Originally from Wales, Hannah loves all types of Equine work and is one of those rare creatures that can turn her hand to anything!

Stacey qualified in 2015 and joined us 2016. She is a busy bee who enjoys working in mixed practice. She loves all aspects of her work, especially surgery. When she gets a little spare time she enjoys dressage on her horse liquorish and spending time with her dog Bertie.

Qualified in 2018 from Nottingham, Katie joined us in 2018 and is proving to be a massive hit with both staff and clients a like. No task is too big (or small!) for Katie and she takes it all on with a massive smile! She absolutely loves all aspects of equine work and has shown an interest in helping Norrie out at the When not at work, it’s still all about horses as Katie wants to get out and do some BD with her horse Bertie.

Barbara has joined us from her native Italy where she worked in an Equine Hospital before moving, along with her family to Lincolnshire. You will often see her zipping around the Lincolnshire countryside providing our clients with our equizone service. When not out and about vaccinating horses, she is spending time with her son and improving her (already very good) language skills.

Tamara has joined the team at Rase Equine Hospital from her native Belgum. She really has hit the ground running since she arrived and is proving very popular with staff and clients alike. Although she enjoys all aspects of equine medicine, she has a strong interest in competition horse work and reproduction.

Adrian is a mixed practice vet who is as comfortable dealing with a horse as he is with a dog or cow! Although mainly dealing with small animal work, he can sometimes be seen at the racecourse assisting on race days. He loves surgery and is usually the member of the team who is called out in the middle of the night to deal with cow calvings!

Lucy qualified as a nurse in 2011 but she has been working at Rase Equine Hospital far longer than that! Lucy loves spending time with the inpatients and providing them with lots of hugs and kisses! She has a particular interest in x-raying, assisting during surgery and enjoys all aspects of her equine job. When she gets some time away from the surgery she can think of nothing better than spending time with her Labrador Betty, her ex-racehorse Fernie and her new addition Nando, also an ex-racehorse. She also has a love of doing marathons and triathlons and has just completed the London marathon and her first half iron man.

Alison Holloway
Veterinary Nurse

Alison joined us in 2017 from a mixed practice doing large animal and equine work, and has very quickly made herself an invaluable member of the team. Alison qualified in 2016 but has been working in veterinary practices for many years providing her with a vital grounding and knowledge of all things medical. Alison particularly enjoys equine anaesthesia and critical care. Outside of work Alison, is busy with her small holding, ferrying around 4 children and likes the occasional glass of (well deserved) red wine!

Sarah joined Rase in 2017 from a small animal practice. She qualified in 2016 having had 11 years’ experience before joining us. Sarah favours surgery and nursing care but is more than happy getting involved with any work that is thrown her way, whether it be a cow caesarean or small animal work. Outside of work she enjoys riding, socialising and looking forward to imminent arrival of her first baby!

Lucy joined us at Rase Equine Hospital in 2018, having spent 5 years working in a mixed practice. She is currently studying to complete her Small Animal Veterinary Nurse qualification, aiming to top it up to become an Equine Veterinary Nurse. She loves all aspects of being a veterinary nurse. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her horse Baxter and dog Arlo.

Heather joined us in 2017 where she has been assisting the Equine team and generally making herself very useful. She is currently working towards qualifying as a Small Animal Veterinary Nurse at which time she aims to do the Equine top up. Heather has spent her life dealing with horses but has also had careers in Hospitality and working for a Law firm. Her favourite aspect of the job is day to day nursing, inpatient care, xray and laboratory work. Outside of work she is nover happier than when she is playing with ponies and her kitten Pringle.

Nicki has worked at Rase Equine Hospital for many years and her role is central to the comfort and well-being of our equine inpatients and any other horse who visits the surgery. She is not only efficient and caring but also extremely knowledgeable owning several horses of her own and regularly competing at BE.

Victoria has worked at Rase since 2010 after arriving in Lincolnshire from her native Norfolk. Victoria has a BA in Marketing and has worked as Marketing Manager for both a Commercial Finance Broker and Law firm before joining Rase. Victoria loves the variety of tasks that her job involves, one day she can be photographing a rasehorse having dynamic scoping on the gallops and then the next day designing brochures and adverts for small animal services. In her spare time Victoria enjoys chasing her small child around and is the Rase Veterinary Centre resident Chihuahua nutter, having three of her own at home.

Richard graduated from the University of Bristol in 1995, having also obtained a degree in Pharmacology. After a year in mixed practice, he moved to Rossdales Equine Hospital where he completed a three-year residency in Equine Surgery. He became a partner at Rossdales in 2002, where his chief responsibility is organising and managing the hospital. Most of his time is spent dealing with the large and varied caseload of elective and emergency surgery that is referred to Rossdales from practices throughout the UK. This includes an equal proportion of orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures. He has a special interest in standing surgery and minimally invasive surgery, including arthroscopy, fracture repair, laparoscopy and laser surgery. His further qualifications include a RCVS Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) and in 2012 the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) awarded him Diplomate
